Rune Pendants

Hand made from natural organic materials

Runes are symbols or letters of an ancient magical alphabet used throughout northern and eastern Europe for many centuries.  Each Rune has a literal and symbolic meaning and various magical associations.  Old Norse and Anglo-Saxon myths tell of the mystical origin of the Runes, a gift to humanity from Odin, the shaman/seeker/all-father.  As legend teaches us, Odin hung from the cosmic World Tree, Yggdrasil, for nine days and nine nights to obtain the secrets of the Runes. I have chosen the seven beneficial runes below for use as amulets, but I can carve any other Elder rune into a pendant on request.  Pendants are crafted from shed Antler of Canadian White-tail Deer, or Hornbeam Ironwood.  They are individually hand made by this artist, not mass produced.  Each pendant is unique in shape, size, grain and natural color.  I use red pigment to tint the carved rune as red is the traditional color for rune work.  Size ranges from about 1 1/4 inches to 1 1/2 inches in height.  Antler runes are coated with a thin layer of crystal clear protective varnish.  Wooden runes have a natural oil finish.

For in depth information about runes, here are a few suggestions for reading.  I don't necessarily agree with everything stated in these books, but they are among the better texts on the subject that I have come across.
